Hyper-converged Management System

New convergence | High stability | Autonomous protection | High performance

Hyper-converged Management System Overview

The Hyper-converged Management System (TopHC) independently developed by Topsec combines virtualized standard functions with intelligent management capabilities of the cloud platform to enable modular deployment and scale-out of cloud infrastructure. The system deeply integrated computing, storage, network, and security network elements (NEs) and delivers all the key data center functions as software-defined services. This model reduces the cost of information system deployment, simplifies system O&M, and improves the speed of service provisioning, enabling customers to build a next-generation cloud computing data center quickly.

Activity & Announcement
Advantages
Highly converged cloud product

TopHC provides the following services to achieve converged management: Cloud server, cloud container, and bare metal server services for operation of agile and stable application systems at the same time; Dual-stack management for servers in X86 architecture and the architecture developed by Chinese vendors; Centralized storage of data blocks, files, and objects; integrated delivery of virtualized functions.

Integrated cloud platform with unique security features

TopHC has all its core modules independently developed by Topsec and provides a full compatibility for the IT innovation ecosystem. In addition to the computing, storage, and network services, the system provides a series of security services, such as next-generation firewall, web application firewall (WAF), baseline check, comprehensive log audit, vulnerability scanner, database audit, network audit, security policy management, network data leakage prevention, and VPN. These security services meet the requirements for Level-2 and Level-3 classified protection of cyber security.

Highly stable business support

TopHC provides high availability (HA), distributed resource scheduler (DRS), and distributed power management (DPM) functions to ensure business continuity and reduce power consumption. Moreover, the system guarantees data security using security techniques, such as multi-copy backup, erasure coding, secure deletion, and end-to-end encryption. It provides multiple disaster tolerance and backup solutions, including continuous data protection (CDP), primary/secondary redundancy, VM-level active-active storage redundancy, VMware redundancy, and collaboration with Topsec Data Backup and Recovery System.

Super-fast storage service

The high-performance distributed storage module built in the system speeds up read-write operations through designs such as multistage cache acceleration, intelligent data striping, I/O localization based on hotspot data, and fine-granularity QoS. The system supports all-flash storage and hybrid storage deployments to meet different requirements for storage performance.

Network-wide visible orchestration via SDN

TopHC provides software-defined networking (SDN) service that integrates cloud, network, and security capabilities, helping customers establish a business-centric intelligent scheduling and security system. Network orchestration devices provided by the system, including distributed switch, distributed router, and load balancer, deliver software-defined network services such as NAT, DHCP, and traffic monitoring.

Application
Scenario

This is the most common cloud application scenario. TopHC provides computing, storage, and network virtualization capabilities to support office applications such as OA, CRM, ERP, and email. For product development and testing, TopHC provides distributed storage and tenant management capabilities to shield real data and isolate resources.

Issues Resolved
  • Total cost of ownership (TCO): The system uses virtualization technology to fully use computing resources on servers, thus reducing the TCO of customers.
  • Reliability: The system leverages virtualized HA and resource pools to improve business reliability.
  • O&M: The system provides an intelligent hardware monitoring platform with certain self-recovery capability. This platform provides users with a GUI and a unified entry to the management interface, making network O&M simpler.
  • Data security: All data is stored in a distributed storage system and managed in a centralized manner. Real data is shielded from development and testing departments, ensuring data security.
Scenario

Disaster tolerance and backup are key to business continuity. TopHC provides multiple disaster tolerance solutions, such as stretched cluster and geo-redundancy. Besides, it supports snapshot, scheduled backup, and CDP for data backup, and can work with Topsec Data Backup and Recovery System to form a collaborative backup solution.

Issues Resolved
  • Disaster tolerance is a key technology to ensure business continuity. A disaster tolerance solution deploys redundant cloud environments in different locations to protect key application systems and avoid single point of failure. Once a data center stops working due to a natural disaster or accident, the redundant cloud environments continue providing services guarantee reliable operation of application systems.
  • Backup, the last line of data protection, prevents data loss caused by failures of systems, transactions, or storage media. A backup solution prevents tampering and malicious encryption of data to ensure information security.
Scenario

Standards compliance is key to cloud security. TopHC integrates multiple security components, including distributed firewall, next-generation firewall, and WAF, to reduce security threats in cloud environments. Using this system, customers in government, education, healthcare, and other sectors can establish a security system meeting regulatory requirements.

Issues Resolved
  • Threats to cloud boundary: TopHC integrates multiple security components to protect the boundary of a cloud platform from security threats.
  • Vulnerabilities of the virtualization layer: TopHC implements security hardening for the virtualization layer and disables unnecessary ports to reduce exposure to security threats. It can prevent VM escapes.
  • Data storage security: The self-developed distributed storage built in the system provides the most reliable and flexible volume backup mechanism with 2-6 copies. The number of copies can be set as needed to ensure reliable data storage.
  • Data transfer security: TopHC implements data encryption and secure deletion to ensure secure data transfer throughout the lifecycle of data on the cloud platform.
Scenario

A large enterprise has multiple branches. TopHC provides multi-tenant management, hierarchical permission management, multi-level work order approval, resource accounting, and resource quota control capabilities, achieving centralized operation, maintenance, and services for clouds of all branches.

Issues Resolved
  • TopHC provides a centralized management platform to manage physical and virtual resources for cloud platforms of different levels. This platform reduces workload of IT personnel and simplifies IT environments, helping the enterprise reduce management cost significantly.
  • TopHC analyzes consumption of cloud resources and presents the analysis results graphically. Based on data provided by TopHC, managers can make budgets for cloud resources more efficiently and reduce the total expenditures.
  • The self-service model of the system improves the response speed of IT services greatly. In addition, the system can manage resources of all cloud platforms throughout their lifecycle.
  • TopHC consolidates cloud resources and unifies underlying IT architectures of all branches to maximize the value of resources.
Value to Customers
