Desktop Cloud System

Simple system management | Resource sharing | Centralized permission management | High data security

Desktop Cloud System Overview

Topsec Desktop Cloud System (TopDC) is built on a hyper-converged architecture and adopts high-performance distributed storage technology independently developed by Topsec. The system uses Topsec Advanced Desktop Protocol (TADP) to provide clear display, high sound quality, and smooth video streaming at lower bandwidth cost, and supports a variety of peripherals. With this system, customers can achieve simple remote desktop management, resource sharing, centralized permission management, and high reliability of user data. In addition, TopDC can seamlessly integrate with security modules, such as EDR, DLP, and host audit, to ensure terminal security. TopDC supports chips from Chinese vendors, such as Phytium, Hygon, Kunpeng, and Zhaoxin, and is compatible with operating systems of Chinese brands, including UOS, Kylin, and NFS-China.

Activity & Announcement
Advantages
Full convergence

TopDC supports X86 and ARM architectures, provides object storage, file storage, and shared online storage, and implements cloud desktop in VOI, VDI, WDI, TCI, or PC reuse model. It supports various operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, UOS, and KylinOS.

Simple O&M

TopDC provides HA, DRS, DRX, DPM, damaged disk detection and data rebuilding mechanisms, as well as linked shutdown and scheduled start/shutdown, to ensure business stability and user experience.

Ultimate user experience

TopDC uses an intelligent video image compression algorithm to support smooth streaming of 4K videos, and allows users to handle their work on four screens.

High data security

TopDC provides all-round data protection through multi-copy backup, erasure coding, scheduled backup, CDP, data disk encryption, QoS, and flexible access control.

Super high performance

TopDC provides a range of mechanisms and functions to ensure efficient access to application systems, including all-solid-state resource pool, three-stage cache acceleration, data localization, and data tagging.

Application
Scenario

Enterprise OA systems and office systems of schools and hospitals face common problems, for example, widely distributed PCs, high O&M cost, high electricity fees, fixed resources and office locations, and long service provisioning period.

Issues Resolved
  • All data is stored on the cloud, facilitating data management and sharing.
  • Resources can be configured flexibly. For example, CPU, memory, and hard disk resources can be increased or decreased dynamically for cloud desktop.
  • Use of low-power thin terminals helps to reduce electricity expenses in the long run.
  • Cloud desktop allows users to work on the move. They can log in to their desktop from any thin terminal or PC using their account and password.
  • Desktops can be provisioned in a batch using a template. It takes only 2-3 minutes to provision 100 desktops.
Scenario

Major requirements in this scenario include data leakage prevention, secure Internet access, virus protection, and peripheral control. Examples of such scenario are in-house or outsourced development and testing and intranet access by government staff.

Issues Resolved
  • The EDR and DLP modules of TopDC provide comprehensive protection of data on user terminals.
  • The network isolation solution isolates multiple desktops of the same user logically or physically.
  • TopDC provides snapshot-based data recovery, periodic backup, and CDP mechanisms to prevent system or data damage caused by desktops.
  • TopDC controls bidirectional data copy on USB ports and clipboards of user terminals, and adds watermarks to text and images on desktops to prevent unauthorized shooting.
Scenario

Public terminals are used in multimedia classrooms or e-reading rooms of schools, training/meeting rooms of government departments, schools, military departments, and hospitals, as well as administrative service centers. Such terminals are configured with standard, consistent settings and connected to a wide variety of peripherals. They may respond slowly or even stop responding after running for a long time. Terminals used in classrooms and training rooms also need to support frequent changes of teaching scenarios and course templates.

Issues Resolved
  • TopDC supports desktop recovery after shutdown and provides multiple course templates. Users can change course templates and update software quickly by one click.
  • TopDC supports scheduled start and shutdown. Users can specify the IP addresses and time range for desktop access, so that the desktop can start automatically when a course begins and shut down when the course ends.
  • Teaching software can be installed to implement screen broadcasting, homework distribution, and examination, assisting teachers and trainers with their jobs.
  • The system is compatible with commonly used peripherals, such as scanners, high-speed portable scanners, pen tablets, and printers.
Value to Customers
High data security

Data security is maximized through centralized data storage on cloud, periodic desktop data backup, multi-copy disk backup, and CDP.

Easy and efficient management

Template-based batch desktop provisioning, one-click update of application software, centralized management of users and terminals, and flexible terminal interface management help to simplify O&M and management.

Lower operational cost

The DMP, tenant resource isolation, and grouped desktop management features provided by the system, and use of cloud terminals with ultra-low power consumption help to reduce operational cost and electricity expenses greatly.

Work on the move

Users can log in to their virtual desktop anytime, anywhere using a cloud terminal, PC, or tablet. The work status on the desktop remains unchanged after the cloud terminal, PC, or tablet is shut down. This improves the work efficiency and flexibility.
